Over 300 people filled the wonderful Queen Theater to hear 5 minute talks about everything Wilmington…and Pakistan…and so much more. We raised over $1500 for the Light Up The Queen Foundation in the process! We had DJ Zip spinning tunes to the Del Tweets on the big screen before and after.
Check out all the photos
here on Facebook
After the talks, the local restaurants were filled with Igniters, spreading the joy throughout the city we call Wilmo!
Thanks to everyone who volunteered at the check-in, who helped organize the night, who pitched in when something needed to be done, and of course THE SPEAKERS!

Well, Ignite Wilmington is proud to have it’s own Sherpa, or MySherpa, to be exact. Wilmington based IT Consulting company MySherpa is a proud supporter of Ignite Wilmington!
When I hear the word ‘Sherpa’, I think of those experts that help novices accomplish new challenges, such as climbing Mt. Everest. Anyone who has struggled with troubleshooting their desktop or trying to figure out why the network printer no longer wants to print before a big meeting would agree that climbing Mt. Everest may sound pretty appealing at that moment.
Check out MySherpa.com for your IT needs, and let them know you appreciate the support at Ignite Wilmington!

Maps define our world and tell the world about the mapmaker. On ancient maps the lands were beautifully decorated with hints of what one could find there; trees, mountains, gold. The edges of maps were often covered in monsters ensuring that no one
would leave their well-defined boundaries for the emptiness on the other side. This left opportunities for Vespucci, Columbus and others to imprint their names in the history books. Once discovered, many followed. Today’s location-based services are our
cartographers, telling people where to go and what they will find. Learn about a new project for putting Wilmington “ on the map”.

The final list of speakers for Ignite Wilmington #5 at the Queen will be announced tomorrow! But here is one speaker to hold you over until then: Jackie Ivy
Jackie is going to spend her 5 minutes helping us understand beauty. Is beauty in the eye of the beholder? How do you define “beauty”? What happens when something takes our breath away? Why does this happen in some situations and not others? In the case of art, why do certain pieces of artwork completely engage us while others leave us uninterested? Is it as simple as some works are “good” while others are not? When looking at art, is it more important to determine a verdict–this is a “good” work of art–or is it more important to be inspired?
And Jackie is certainly qualified! From being director of store design for Anthropologie, a division of Urban Outfitters – to assisting with the Queen Theater – to spending two years at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy, Jackie has had to grapple with designing beauty.
Stay tuned for more great speakers to be revealed. Get your tickets! Tell your friends! IW5 is gonna rock!
